Rogue's Pumpkin Patch Ale

PUMPKIN PATCH ALE
BREWERY: Rogue Ales (Oregon, USA) | STYLE: Pumpkin Ale | ABV: 6.1%

We're not sure if we'd recommend crushing a 25 oz bottle of ale at a children's pumpkin patch. Especially not at 10 A.M. on a Monday...

We thought that we were being clever when we decided to come first thing on a weekday morning to avoid crowds, but, oh, were we so wrong. Turns out Monday morning at Clancy's Pumpkin Patch is a prime time for kindergartners and tiny tots alike to run about and squeeze themselves into every corner imaginable. So if you think that you're sneaky enough to find a secret drinking spot, forget it. Children will be everywhere.

Yet since we were drinking in the name of research (đŸ˜‰), we gave ourselves a free pass to enjoy some cold brew amidst the chaos. Because this beautifully pumpkinized bottle art by ROGUE ALES was far too good-looking to not enjoy while taking part in one of Halloween's most praised activities: pumpkin picking!

Our immediate impression when taking our first sip of Rogue Ale's PUMPKIN PATCH ALE was "Wow, we could drink this anywhere!"

Being a drink based off of seasonal flavors, we were curious as to if we'd be crazy about the Pumpkin Patch Ale or not. I've never been a huge fan of pumpkin-flavored things and never understood pumpkin pie and and pumpkin spice lattes. But being brewed using fresh picked pumpkins from Rogue Ale's very own Rogue Farms, this beer serves up a nice caramelized flavor with spicy notes and a smooth, full body. You can certainly pick up flavors of pumpkin, but only through mild hints which compliment this brew perfectly, which left us both pleasantly satisfied.

Turning gung-ho over a pumpkin ale wasn't the only thing that left us surprised... It's beautiful dark-brown hue left us shocked as well! Before we poured this guy into a glass we were expecting a lighter-amber color but instead we found a darker tone topped off with a fluffy, white head (not pictured) that perfectly matched the fall vibes that Clancy's Pumpkin Patch had to offer. And these dark colors perfectly matched its soft taste and spicy aromas.

Having a fairly mild ABV of 6.1% and a thoughtfully mixed blend of comforting flavors, this is a beer that you can sit down with and enjoy anywhere. However the next time we drink this ale, we won't take this to a noisy pumpkin patch but to a cozy evening, indoors by the fireplace. Call us cheesy all you want, but the this Pumpkin Patch ale is the quintessence of fall.
