Tröeg's Nugget Nectar

BREWERY: Tröegs Brewing Co. (Hershey, PA) | STYLE: Imperial Amber Ale | ABV: 7.5%

You’d think that after living together, working together and going to school together we’d get tired of seeing each other. Well on the contraire, Milan and I can never get enough! Seriously. Because despite all of that, we don’t get to see each other nearly as often as you’d think. Our schedules rarely match up and most days we only have, maybe, two minutes to chit chat before moving onto the next part of our daily routines. And ya know that life is downright cray when your only breaks from reality are funnelled into your beer blog 😳 But, hey! We ain’t hatin’ ;)

Our most recent get away from the daily stress was to Baker Beach on probably the most beautiful day we’ve had in SF in months. We’re talkin’ so nice that skipping around in short-shorts and flip flops didn’t leave us with goosebumps -- which, believe me, is quite the rarity in these lands...

Yet, with all of our fun in the sun it took us a hot second to realize that Baker Beach is not only famous for the view of the Golden Gate Bridge, but also for its plethora of, um, naked bodies. How were we reminded? Well… when we saw an older gent in his mid to late 60’s running along the shore, full-on Baywatch style -- letting it all hang -- we put the pieces together real quick. But were we phased? Nahhhh! We lived in France for two years! So seeing a pair of boobs or some family jewels was like seeing a striped scarf in winter.

While doing our best to avoid direct eye contact with anyone with a bare behind, we had the pleaure to taste and take photo’s of the lovely Nugget Nectar by TROEGS BREWING CO. Considering that they're based all the way in Hershey, Pennsylvania, we were super jazzed to try something that didn't come from the West Coast. And we weren't let down. Pouring a deep amber hue that's slightly darker than most amber ales, this NUGGET NECTAR is unique to its kind. Giving off an aroma of sweet malts and citrus, its flavors are overwhelmingly malty with a hint of caramel and, you guessed it, light citrus notes. Despite being deliciously sweet and giving off an almost sticky, candy feel its strong hop presence makes it a perfect transition from winter to spring. And we couldn't have asked for a more comforting drink to top off our day at the beach 😎

So if you're planning on using your rest day to bask in the sun amongst the bare bodies and city views of Baker Beach, we'd definitely recommend this amber ale to anyone that can get there hands on it! Because man oh man was this beer a tasty way to amp up the good vibes of the day! So if you want to get ahold of it, use Tröegs Beer Finder HERE!
